Jordan Katz is back with another mock draft!

This is the second of my April blitz of mock drafts and a lot has changed since my previous one. In fact I have 30 of the 62 picks as different players, and I’m sure more will change from now until draft day.

ROUND 1

1) Kansas City Chiefs- Luke Joeckel, OT Texas A&M (no change)

Same as last week. Joeckel appears to be coming closer and closer to a lock here.

2) Jacksonville Jaguars- Dion Jordan, DE/OLB Oregon (no change)

Again, I still think Eric Fisher is a better pick here, but the Jags desperately need a pass rusher. Jordan, Ziggy Ansah and Barkevious Mingo appear to be the best pass rushing options on the board, so this could be one of those three. I’m taking Jordan.

3) Oakland Raiders- Star Lotulelei, DT Utah (previous pick: Sharrif Floyd)

Star Lotulelei’s heart tests came up fine, so he becomes the best player on the board for most once again. The Raiders desperately need a defensive tackle, and while Floyd was here last week I think Lotulelei has become a top five overall pick again.

4) Philadelphia Eagles- Eric Fisher, OT Central Michigan (previous pick: Dee Milliner)

I had mentioned in my last mock that the Eagles were getting Jason Peters and Todd Herremans back from injury, so they didn’t need to go offensive line. However, recent reports have shown that they may go offensive line anyway. I think Fisher is actually the best tackle in the draft, so his athleticism will work perfectly for new head coach Chip Kelly’s up tempo style.

5) Detroit Lions- Dee Milliner, CB Alabama (previous pick: Eric Fisher)

The Lions do still need offensive line help, but Milliner is very high on their draft board from everything I can gather. The Lions have had a poor secondary for a long time and Milliner would be a step in the right direction. He’s a physical corner with good instincts, and has shown spurts of lockdown corner ability. Whether he can be a shutdown corner at the next level however, remains to be seen.

6) Cleveland Browns- Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah, DE BYU (previous pick: Tavon Austin)

I had Austin here because I thought it was a nice reach pick for a team that desperately needs playmaking wide receivers. However, the recent buzz around Ansah has led me to believe there’s no way Cleveland passes on him. As I’ve stated, Ansah is a Jason Pierre-Paul clone. He has terrific pass rushing ability and despite the fact he is raw, I think he will be a great pro.

7) Arizona Cardinals- Lane Johnson, OT Oklahoma (no change)

The Cardinals trade for Carson Palmer furthers my belief that the rumors of them not taking a quarterback in the first round are true. The trade also furthers my belief that Lane Johnson is their man at the seven because the Cardinals will have to do a better job of protecting Palmer than they did their previous quarterbacks. If they don’t he might not last the season.

8 ) Buffalo Bills- Geno Smith, QB West Virginia (no change)

This pick is very close to changing because there is a lot of talk that besides Geno Smith the quarterbacks in this class are going to fall. Because of that, Geno Smith could fall into the backend of the first round where a team like Buffalo or Arizona or even Philadelphia trades back into the first round to get him. There is no reason to overdraft a quarterback in this draft and because of this, Geno Smith could fall. I’ll keep him here for now, but this could change soon.

9) New York Jets- Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB LSU (previous pick: Ziggy Ansah)

Most have had this pick penciled in here for months, but I’m just not sold on Mingo, so I’ve tried to avoid him going to my favorite team. However, this pick just makes too much sense. Mingo is a good pass rusher and he does have an array of moves. The Jets need a pure pass rusher, so Mingo would make sense.

10) Tennessee Titans- Chance Warmack, OG Alabama (no change)

Many may have a defensive tackle here, but let me explain something. The Titans offensive is still atrocious. Nothing has changed from my last mock draft.

11) San Diego Chargers- Sharrif Floyd, DT Florida (previous pick: Jonathan Cooper)

If Star Lotulelei was totally healthy at the time of my previous mock draft, then he would have gone in the top five and Floyd would have gone to the Chargers. Well, Lotulelei is healthy now, so this scenario is playing out. Floyd is one of the many very talented defensive tackles in this draft so he will help the Chargers defense next season.

12) Miami Dolphins- DJ Fluker, OT Alabama (no change)

The Dolphins top need is still left tackle after they lost Jake Long to the Rams a few weeks ago. Again Fluker isn’t high on my list of players I like, but he is the best offensive tackle on the board, and that’s what the Dolphins are looking for.

13) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Xavier Rhodes, CB Florida State (no change)

This pick will be the Jets by draft day; I truly believe that. I think that the Bucs will ultimately cave on this pick and trade it to get the best corner in the league (sorry Richard Sherman). If they don’t, Xavier Rhodes is a lock here, in my opinion. However, I would be surprised if the Jets aren’t picking here by as early as the end of next week.

14) Carolina Panthers- Tavon Austin, WR California (previous pick: Star Lotulelei)

First off, I’m convinced from things that I’ve seen and heard that the Panthers are going wide receiver with this pick. Second, Austin is a Steve Smith clone, at least that’s his ceiling. He’s a small reveicer with big play ability and good route running. So why not send him to Carolina to learn from… Steve Smith?

15) New Orleans Saints- Jarvis Jones, OLB Georgia (previous pick: Barkevious Mingo)

I still like the idea of the Saints taking an outside linebacker because of their switch to a 3-4 defense. Jones could actually thrive in this system as well. He would have to do nothing but pass rush, which is the only thing he can do anyway. This might actually work out for the former Georgia star who has fell on mock drafts across the country since December.

16) St Louis Rams- Sheldon Richardson, DT Missouri (no change)

Richardson would still be a perfect fit for the Rams, if he fell to this pick. He’s phenomenal against the run and is a prototypical 4-3 defensive tackle. He’s also a terrific tackler for his position. Not all defensive tackles make big time tackles and plays in the backfield, but Richardson does. I’m still not entirely sure he makes it here, but if he does the Rams would get a steal of a pick.

17) Pittsburgh Steelers- Alec Ogletree, ILB Georgia (previous pick: Jarvis Jones)

Despite the apparent loss of Emmanuel Sanders (even though the Steelers have until Monday to match the Patriots offer, that doesn’t seem likely), I still think the Steelers need to get younger on defense, specifically their linebacking core. Ogletree is a versatile linebacker. He has explosive sideline to sideline speed and is great against the run. This will be a good fit for Pittsburgh.

18) Dallas Cowboys- Jonathan Cooper, OG North Carolina (previous pick: Justin Pugh)

Now Cooper wasn’t available here in my last mock, so that’s why this pick was Justin Pugh. If Cooper is here, this is a no brainer. Personally, I think Cooper is better than Chance Warmack and I’ve made that known. He would really improve the offensive line of the Cowboys.

19) New York Giants- Manti Te’o, ILB Notre Dame (previous pick: Alec Ogletree)

The Giants have to go linebacker here. Te’o is back to a top 20 pick and he will command the middle of that defense well. However, I have one concern that might make the Giants look elsewhere with this pick. If there was concern over Te’o’s ability to control his emotions in locker rooms with the Lennay Kekua issue, imagine the New York media and the pressure they will put on him.

20) Chicago Bears- Justin Pugh, OT/OG Syracuse (previous pick: Manti Te’o)

Chicago needs linebackers, but there’s none worth over drafting here. There next need is offensive line. Pugh is a very solid offensive lineman. He is probably a guard at the next level because of his small wing span, but he’s a good pass blocker at tackle, which should make him an excellent pass blocker at guard.

21) Cincinnati Bengals- Desmond Trufant, CB Washington (no change)

Trufant was on my radar as a first round pick back in October when no one knew he would be picked in the first two days, let alone the first round. He’s got a ton of skill in coverage and has good ball skills. Most importantly, he’s athletically gifted and has great balance for a corner. The Bengals need a corner opposite Leon Hall and Trufant is a big upgrade to their secondary.

22) St Louis Rams via Washington Redskins- Kenny Vaccaro, S Texas (no change)

I mentioned last week how the Rams have no safeties whatsoever, so this pick still doesn’t change.

23) Minnesota Vikings- Cornellius “Tank” Carradine, DE Florida State (no change)

The Vikings still need a defensive end opposite Jared Allen and Carradine is the best all around defensive end left on the board, in my opinion.

24) Indianapolis Colts- Bjoern Werner, DE Florida State (no change)

The Colts have always looked for faster defensive ends that primarily rush the passer, and that is Werner in a nutshell. If your looking for a dark horse here, Jamar Taylor could be your guy if the Colts decide to go secondary.

25) Minnesota Vikings via Seattle Seahawks- Sylvester Williams, DT North Carolina (no change)

Continuing with the theme of getting younger and more depth on the defensive line, Williams is a solid defensive tackle and in a 4-3 defense could be a weapon. I could see a wide receiver here, but I like the fit of Williams.

26) Green Bay Packers- Menelik Watson, OT Florida State (no change)

The Packers biggest need here, even with the departure of Jennings and their horrendous defense, is still offensive line because as long as Aaron Rodgers is upright during games, the Packers can beat anybody. Watson is flying up boards so he makes sense here.

27) Houston Texans- Cordarelle Patterson, WR Tennessee (no change)

If you didn’t read my last mock draft here’s the deal with Patterson. Personally I think he is better than Austin. He has good size (6’1), he’s dynamic with the ball in his hands, and one on one there are not many that can stop him. He’s fast and jumps out of the stadium. Any 50/50 ball will most likely be Patterson’s.

The issue for him is the transition to the next level. Patterson has only one year of experience in college and doesn’t run great routes. He’s very much like Stephen Hill from last year’s draft class in that regard. However, just as I felt Hill would be a great pro, and I still do, I think Patterson will be as well.

28) Denver Broncos- Tyler Eifert, TE Notre Dame (no change)

I still believe the Broncos will meet their need to replace Dumervil in free agency. Eifert is a beast in the passing game and it was obvious that Jacob Tamme wasn’t a true number one tight end if you watched the Broncos last season. Eifert is a great route runner, he has great size and speed for a tight end, good hands, and can stretch the field vertically. He would make the Broncos offense literally unstoppable in the passing game.

29) New England Patriots- Jamar Taylor, CB Boise State (previous pick: Justin Hunter)

Despite the Steelers matching Emmanuel Sanders’ offer sheet, I still believe the Patriots are going secondary here. Taylor is flying up draft boards for his ability to play press coverage and his ball hawking skills. He has supposedly been on the Patriots radar for a while and would help a horrendous secondary (sorry Pats fans, not buying Kyle Arrington, Devin McCourtey or Aquib Talib).

30) Atlanta Falcons- Zach Ertz, TE Stanford (no change)

I don’t care that Tony Gonzalez is coming back, he can’t last forever. Ertz is going to be one of the better tight end prospects that the Falcons will ever have the chance to draft. Must draft here.

31) San Francisco 49ers- Margus Hunt, DE SMU (previous pick: Blidi Wreh-Wilson)

After winning the second “Asomugha sweepstakes,” the 49ers can now address their next need… if they had any. This may be the most complete team since I’ve started covering the NFL Draft. There’s no reason why this pick in that case shouldn’t be defensive line. It’s the strongest position in the draft, and Justin Smith is getting up there in age.

Hunt is a beast and would be a top 15 pick if he actually played decent competition, in my opinion. He’s massive for a true defensive end with great speed up field, a quick first step off the line, and he very strong. He will be a clone of Justin Smith in two years if he got to learn behind Smith.

32) Baltimore Ravens- Justin Hunter, WR Tennessee (previous pick: DeAndre Hopkins)

The defending champions lost a lot from last year to this year, especially on defense. However, I think the top need is getting Joe Flacco a replacement for Anquan Boldin, who was his favorite target in a tight spot. Hunter is very similar to Cordarelle Patterson. He’s not as explosive or as good in the air, but he is a much better route runner and more consistent. He will be a good fit here for the Ravens

ROUND TWO

33) Jacksonville Jaguars- Matt Barkley, QB USC (no change)

34) San Francisco via Kansas City Chiefs- Jonathan Cyprien, S Florida International (no change)

35) Philadelphia Eagles- EJ Manuel, QB Florida State (no change)

36) Detroit Lions- Terron Armstead, OT Arkansas Pine-Bluff (previous pick: Damontre Moore)

37) Cincinnati Bengals via Oakland Raiders- Matt Elam, S Florida

38) Arizona Cardinals- Jonathan Hankins, DT Ohio State (previous pick: Mike Glennon)

(Cleveland Used Pick in Supplemental Draft)

39) New York Jets- Johnathan Jenkins, DT Georgia (no change)

40) Tennessee Titans- Damontre Moore, DE Texas A&M (previous pick: Margus Hunt)

41) Buffalo Bills- Keenan Allen, WR California (no change)

42) Miami Dolphins- Blidi Wreh-Wilson, CB Connecticut (previous pick: Jonthan Banks)

43) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Kawann Short, DT Purdue (no change)

44) Carolina Panthers- Eric Reid, S LSU (previous pick: Jamar Taylor)

(New Orleans Forfeits Pick Due To Bounty Scandal)

45) San Diego Chargers- Arthur Brown, ILB Kansas State

46) St Louis Rams- DeAndre Hopkins, WR Clemson (previous pick: Robert Woods)

47) Dallas Cowboys- Bennie Logan, DT LSU (previous pick: Jonathan Hankins)

48) Pittsburgh Steelers- Robert Woods, WR USC (previous pick: Quinton Patton)

49) New York Giants- Kyle Long, OG Oregon (previous pick: Terron Armstead)

50) Chicago Bears- Kevin Minter, ILB LSU (previous pick: Kyle Long)

51) Washington Redskins- Jordan Reed, TE Florida (no change)

52) Minnesota Vikings- Jonthan Banks, CB Mississippi St (previous pick: Kevin Minter)

53) Cincinnati Bengals- Eddie Lacy, RB Alabama (no change)

54) Miami Dolphins via Indianapolis Colts- Sam Montgomery, DE LSU (no change)

55) Green Bay Packers- DJ Swearinger, S South Carolina (previous pick: Eric Reid)

56) Seattle Seahawks- Jesse Williams, DT Alabama

57) Houston Texans- Brandon Williams, DT Missouri Southern

58) Denver Broncos- Jamie Collins, DE/OLB Southern Mississippi

59) New England Patriots- Alex Okafor, DE/OLB Texas (previous pick: Darius Slay)

60) Atlanta Falcons- Robert Alford, CB Southeastern Louisiana

61) San Francisco 49ers- Darius Slay, CB Mississippi St. (previous pick: Alex Okafor)

62) Baltimore Ravens-Shamarko Thomas, S Syracuse (previous pick: DJ Swearinger)

Jordan Katz gives his final mock draft!

It’s the final edition of the Katz Korner, NFL Mock Draft. If you have been reading so far, you’re well aware of the players I like and I don’t like, and the good and bad qualities of the players, so there won’t be as much analysis on the players in this one. In this mock, I will give three rounds as well as list possible teams that you could see trade up or trade down in the first round from their draft position. For clarification, anything over 60 percent is a team I expect to trade. Some players have moved up or down based on some of the rumblings I’ve heard about what teams might do. Hopefully I get a few of these right.

ROUND 1

1) INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (QB, ILB, OL)- Andrew Luck, QB Stanford
TRADE: No way.

2) WASHINGTON REDSKINS VIA ST. LOUIS RAMS (QB, RB, OL)- Robert Griffin III, QB Baylor
TRADE: Already happened

3) MINNESOTA VIKINGS (OL, LB, CB)- Mo Claiborne, CB LSU
TRADE: Forty percent chance. First on our list of possible trades are the Vikings. The Vikings could very well deal this pick to move farther back in the first round and try to get more draft picks for a team that isn’t necessarily rebuilding, but does need more pieces than most.

4) CLEVELAND BROWNS (RB, WR, OL)- Trent Richardson, RB Alabama
TRADE: Twenty percent chance. It’s possible the Browns move down, but with two first round picks already I highly doubt it.

5) TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (CB, OLB, OT)- Matt Kalil, OT USC
TRADE: Ten percent chance. The Bucs appear to be sold on Claiborne, Keuchly, or Kalil so I strongly doubt the Bucs trade down, but you never know.

6) ST LOUIS RAMS VIA WASHINGTON REDSKINS (WR, OLB, S)- Justin Blackmon, WR Oklahoma St.
TRADE: No chance.

7) JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (OL, WR, OLB)- Riley Reiff, OT Iowa
TRADE: Sixty-five percent chance. The Jags desperately need more pieces to their puzzle and trading for more draft picks is always a great way to do so. Possible teams that you could see move here are the Jets, Eagles and Chargers.

8 MIAMI DOLPHINS (QB, WR, DL)- Ryan Tannehill, QB Texas A&M
TRADE: Thirty percent chance. The Dolphins could land Tannehill later in the draft so you could see them move down. The Dolphins could also move up to the Vikings and draft Richardson, Kalil or Blackmon, although I find that scenario unlikely.

9) CAROLINA PANTHERS (DL, CB, OLB)- Melvin Ingram, DE South Carolina
TRADE: Thirty percent chance. There have been some rumblings that the Panthers could move down, but they are set up here to take a ton of defensive needs at this spot so I highly doubt it.

10) BUFFALO BILLS (WR, OLB, CB)- Mark Barron, S Alabama
TRADE: Thirty percent chance. The only way the Bills trade here is to jump the Rams for Blackmon and that will probably be tough. There’s a small chance they move down, but that is highly unlikely.

11) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (OL, DT, ILB)- Luke Keuchly, ILB Boston College
TRADE: No chance. The Chiefs are in prime position to address needs.

12) SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (DL, ILB, OLB)- Dontari Poe, DT Memphis
TRADE: No chance. Unless Seattle gets wowed by an offer, they are also in a great position to draft defense here.

13) ARIZONA CARDINALS (OT, OG, OLB)- David DeCastro, G Stanford
TRADE: Ten percent chance. Again, as is the theme of the draft so far, possible but I doubt it. The Cardinals will have options here, whether it be DeCastro or Upshaw or someone on the defensive line.

14) DALLAS COWBOYS (CB, S, OT)- Stephon Gilmore, CB South Carolina
TRADE: Forty percent chance and it will only be to move up. There’s no way the Cowboys move down unless they make a blunder.

15) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (DT, ILB, OT)- Fletcher Cox, DT Mississippi St
TRADE: Seventy-five percent chance. This is the first team I truly think does not stay where they are. They have been rumored to trying to trade up and go after Keuchly or Poe.

There’s also so much defensive tackle depth that a team looking to nab a top flight cornerback (Detroit, I see you) could wow them with an offer. The pick is Cox if they don’t move, but look for Andy Reid and company to be aggressive on draft day.

16) NEW YORK JETS (S, DE, WR)- Michael Floyd, WR Norte Dame
TRADE: Seventy percent chance. There’s no secret here, the Jets have three names on their radar, Keuchly, Barron and Ingram. They have also been rumored to trying to get Trent Richardson, but that seems super unlikely.

If the Jets miraculously stay at the 16th pick, they will go with Floyd or Barron if he’s still here, but mark my words, the Jets will move up or down with one of their first two picks.

17) CINCINATTI BENGALS VIA OAKLAND RAIDERS (CB, WR, RB)- Stephen Hill, WR Georgia Tech

TRADE: Forty percent chance. The Bengals could package their two picks so a trade with a team in their position is always likely, I’m just not sure if come draft day it will be necessary.

18) SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (DE, OT, NT)- Michael Brockers, DT LSU
TRADE: Fifty-five percent chance. Here’s the best way I can describe this. It’s Norv Turner and A.J Smith, the Chargers could do anything.

19) CHICAGO BEARS (WR, DE, OT)- Cordy Glenn, OT/OG Georgia
TRADE: Five percent chance. Essentially there’s no chance. I don’t see based on team needs who would want this pick and I don’t see the Bears giving the farm to go after Blackmon, Wright or Floyd after they just got Brandon Marshall.

20) TENNESSEE TITANS (OT, CB, OLB)- Dre’ Kirkpatrick, CB Alabama
TRADE: No chance. The Titans will have cornerbacks and offensive lineman galore at this pick. Unless they see an opportunity to move up, there staying right here.

21) CINCINATTI BENGALS (OLB, RB, DE)- Courtney Upshaw, OLB Alabama
TRADE: Forty percent chance. Same deal as the 17th pick.

22) CLEVELAND BROWNS VIA ATLANTA FLACONS (WR, OL, DE)- Jonathan Martin, OT Stanford
TRADE: Eighty percent chance. The Browns need the world and trading the 22nd pick to move backward and get more picks is highly likely. I highly doubt the Browns stay here.

23) DETROIT LIONS (CB, S, OL)- Janoris Jenkins, CB Northern Alabama
TRADE: Thirty percent chance. The Lions would only move up because of the depth at defensive back, which they are in desperate need of.

24) PITTSBURGH STEELERS (OT, LB, CB)- Quentin Coples, DE UNC
TRADE: Ten percent chance. One word, doubtful.

25) DENVER BRONCOS (DT, CB, OT)- Kendall Reyes, DT Connecticut
TRADE: Forty-five percent chance. It’s possible because Denver could load up on some picks later in the draft. However, because of the options I doubt it.

26) HOUSTON TEXANS (OLB, WR, OL)- Kendall Wright, WR Baylor
TRADE: No way.

27) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS VIA NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (DEFENSE)- Andre Branch, DE Clemson
TRADE: I’m not even bothering putting a chance on this one. It’s Belichick, your guess is as good as mine.

28) GREEN BAY PACKERS (OT, DT, DE)- Nick Perry, DE USC
TRADE: Ten percent chance. Very, Very doubtful.

29) BALTIMORE RAVENS (S, OG, ILB)- Harrison Smith, S Notre Dame
TRADE: Thirty percent chance. I wouldn’t bet on it, but it is possible that the Ravens try to get a few top picks in this draft because their defense is aging and their offensive line is old.

30) SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (OG, S, DE)- Whitney Mercilus, DE Illinois
TRADE: Sixty percent chance. If Harrison Smith is indeed gone, this pick is traded to move down and take Brandon Taylor because safety is number one priority on the Niners wish list.

The Niners could also move up and go after Barron if he were to fall.

31) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (DEFENSE)- Don’t’a Hightower, ILB Alabama
TRADE: Once again, your guess is as good as mine.
I will say this. It’s more likely that the Pats try and trade this pick to once again stock pile picks for the future as they always do. However, if Hightower is here, this pick isn’t moving.

32) NEW YORK GIANTS (TE, ILB, OT)- Coby Fleener, TE Stanford
TRADE: No chance. The Giants can get any tight end they want here.

ROUND 2

33) ST LOUIS RAMS- Peter Konz, C Wisconsin

34) INDIANAPOLIS COLTS- Chandler Jones, DE Syracuse

35) MINNESOTA VIKINGS- Alshon Jeffery, WR South Carolina

36) TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS- Lavonte David, OLB Nebraska

37) CLEVELAND BROWNS- Brandon Weeden, QB Oklahoma St.

38) JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS- Reuben Randle, WR LSU

39) ST. LOUIS RAMS via WASHINGTON REDSKINS- Jerel Worthy, DT Michigan St

40) CAROLINA PANTHERS- Zach Brown, OLB North Carolina

41) BUFFALO BILLS- Michael Adams, OT Ohio St

43) SEATTLE SEAHAWKS- Mychal Kendricks, ILB California

44) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS- Brock Osweiler, QB Arizona St

45) DALLAS COWBOYS- Alamenda Ta’amu, NT Washington

46) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES- Shea McClellin, OLB Boise St

47) NEW YORK JETS- Brandon Taylor, S LSU

48) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS via OAKLAND RAIDERS- Zebrie Sanders, OT Florida St

49) SAN DIEGO CHARGERS- Kevin Zeitler, OG Wisconsin

50) CHICAGO BEARS- Dwayne Allen, TE Clemson

51) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES via ARIZONA CARDINALS- Mitchell Schwartz, OT California

52) TENNESSEE TITANS- Jeff Allen, OG Clemson

53) CINCINATTI BENGALS- Lamar Miller, RB Miami Florida

54) DETROIT LIONS- Brandon Brooks, OG Miami OH

55) ATLANTA FALCONS- Devon Still, DT Penn St

56) PITTSBURGH STEELERS- Ronnell Lewis, OLB Oklahoma

57) DENVER BRONCOS- LaMichael James, RB Oregon

58) HOUSTON TEXANS- Josh Robinson, CB USF

59) GREEN BAY PACKERS- Doug Martin, RB Boise St

60) BALTIMORE RAVENS- Kelechi Osemele, OG Iowa St

61) SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS-Joe Looney, OG Wake Forest

62) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS- Isaiah Pead, RB Cincinnati

63) NEW YORK GIANTS- David Wilson, RB Virginia Tech

ROUND 3

64) INDIANAPOLIS COLTS- Brian Quick, WR Appalachian St

65) ST LOUIS RAMS- Dwight Bentley, CB Louisiana-Lafayette

66) MINNESOTA VIKINGS- Brandon Boykin, CB Georgia

67) CLEVELAND BROWNS- AJ Jenkins, WR Illinois

68) TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS- Brandon Thompson, DT Clemson

69) WASHINGTON REDSKINS- Derek Wolfe, DT Cincinnati

70) JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS- Kirk Cousins, QB Michigan St

71) BUFFALO BILLS- Nick Foles, QB Arizona

72) MIAMI DOLPHINS- Nick Toon, WR Wisconsin

73) MIAMI DOLPHINS via CAROLINA through CHICAGO- Trumaine Johnson, CB Montana

74) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS-Bruce Irvin, OLB West Virginia

75) SEATTLE SEAHAWKS- James Brown, OG Troy

76) HOUSTON TEXANS via PHILADELPHIA EAGLES- Alfonzo Dennard, CB Nebraska

It’s round two of my many mock drafts. The standings have changed somewhat and the values of players have also changed based on their performances. As always please comment with your own questions or suggestions for picks of your favorite team. Also a second round will be added around Christmas when the regular season is over for college football.

ROUND 1

1) Colts- ANDREW LUCK, QB STANFORD
Don’t believe the talk, Andrew Luck is THAT good. Jim Irsay has stated that Peyton Manning is fine with the team taking a Quarterback with its first round selection. Despite this, there’s once again a monkey wrench in this pick. Peyton is recovering better of late (so say the media) and he has stated he should be fine for the 2012 season. Andrew Luck has stated that he doesn’t want to sit. He will request a trade or go back for a fifth season, which he is eligible to do. This could present a problem for the Colts as the draft gets closer. If they don’t trade Peyton or the pick, Trent Richardson is becoming more and more likely.

2) Rams- MATT KALIL, OT USC
Yes the Rams do need some defense, but when the next Walter Jones/ Orlando Pace/ Jake Long is coming out at tackle when you desperately need to protect your franchise quarterback, the obvious pick is Kalil.

3) Vikings- MORRIS CLAIBORNE, CB LSU
So despite the dominant front four the Vikings have, their defense is still not up to snuff. There 28th in the league against the pass and as I stated in my last mock the wide receiving talent is so deep that I see Claiborne the pick over Blackmon.

4) Panthers- QUENTIN COPLES, DE NORTH CAROLINA
The Panthers need any defense they can get and Coples is the best defensive lineman by far in this draft. Coples is the pick.

5) Jaguars- JUSTIN BLACKMON, WR OKLAHOMA ST
Well Jacksonville I have caved. All I have heard is how the plan is to let Gabbert throw the ball more and become their next Brunell. Well if that’s the plan, you need a true number one receiver. Blackmon may not be the most skilled physically as Michael Floyd is taking scouts by storm, but he’s the best route runner and the pick here for the Jags.

6) Seahawks- MATT BARKLEY, QB USC
USC connection strikes again for Pete Carrol. The Seahawks need a quarterback desperately to provide balance to their offense and take it back to the level it was at in the mid 2000’s. Barkley has proven to me that he is clearly the second best QB in the draft rather than Landry Jones. His accuracy is very good and he has shown great command over his offense. The question with Barkley, which is the question with most of the USC QB’s to come out lately, is his arm strength and the ability to make tough NFL throws. We’ll have to wait and see but I think he can.

7) Cardinals- RILEY REIFF, OT IOWA

The Cardinals next year will need to protect Kevin Kolb, or whoever is quarterbacking, much better than they have this year. I love every lineman out of Stanford this year and Reiff is no different. Not only can he pass block, but he can provide stability at the tackle position for a team that struggles to block the better pass rushers in the NFC.

8) Redskins- LANDRY JONES, QB OKLAHOMA
This is a tough decision here for Washington. Trent Richardson is available, which would definitely be the feature back Shanahan is looking for, but Jones could be the quarterback they desperately need. I right now think Jones would be the pick but I see some obvious flaws. For starters he needs to improve his accuracy. Jones has a tendency to miss throws that in the NFL he must make. Two he has obvious Brett Favre-itis, if you will. He forces too many throws to his number one read on a play rather than going to his second and third reads. I currently say Jones is the pick, but that could change fast.

9) Browns- TRENT RICHARDSON, RB ALABAMA
Cleveland has decided that they will not resign Peyton Hillis, which means they need a feature back. There’s nothing Richardson can’t do well at the running back position so this is a no brainer.

10) Chargers- DRE KIRKPATRICK, CB ALABAMA
The Chargers need secondary so badly. They can’t stop anyone who can pass even a little. Kirkpatrick good man coverage will go a long way towards improving their back seven.

11) Dolphins- LUKE KEUCHLY, MLB BOSTON COLLEGE
Based on the top three quarterbacks being gone I don’t see the fish reaching for Ryan Tannehill or anyone like that. Keuchly is flying up draft boards and could make the front seven of the Dolphins one of the best in the league. Truthfully in this scenario, I see the Dolphins trading the pick, but in this case where there are no trades, I see Keuchly as a great fit.

12) Buccaneers- JONATHAN MARTIN, OT STANFORD

Just from watching the Bucs o-line this season they appear to be both inconsistent and not very talented. Martin is a good run blocking offensive lineman, the question is whether he can protect Freeman at a high level. But for a team that wants to get back to pounding the rock and playing defense, Martin makes sense.

13) Bills- MICHAEL FLOYD, WR NOTRE DAME
Anybody heard of a guy named Randy Moss? Terrell Owens? Well meet the next of freak wide receivers. Floyd is an absolute monster, incredible body control, great hands, ridiculous leaping ability and a great blocker. Best part, he’s currently not rated as the best wide out. What a steal here for the Bills.

14) Eagles- VONTAZE BURFECT, MLB ARIZONA ST
Obviously the Eagles need linebackers and since Burfect is a walking clone of some of the best linebackers to play the position in terms of his sideline to sideline speed and tackling ability, he’s the obvious choice.

15) Titans- DAVID DECASTRO, OG STANFORD
Giving CJ2K the benefit of the doubt for his poor season, the Titans need to block better for Johnson. DeCastro is a phenomenal guard and one of the best offensive linemen in a good offensive line draft. Another one of my underrated players in this draft, I like this fit.

16) Chiefs- DEVON STILL, DT PENN ST
Here’s a test. How do you fix a run defense that’s 28th in the league? By picking the best 3-4 defensive tackle in the draft to sure up your defensive line. Still, despite his last game, has flown up draft boards because of his great pursuit to the ball on running plays. Another option here is Manti Te’o, the MLB for Notre Dame, but because of Derrick Johnson’s strong play I like Still.

17) Broncos- RYAN TANNEHILL, QB TEXAS A&M
I don’t care what Tim Tebow has done. No team can win a super bowl in this era with the 31st rank passing offense. Tannehill is the next best quarterback and must be the pick, no questions asked, no other options, unless it’s another quarterback.

18) Bears- COURTNEY UPSHAW, OLB ALABAMA
Whether the Bears resign Lance Briggs or not, they still need an outside linebacker and still need linebacking depth. Upshaw’s pass rushing ability with Julius Peppers would make this front seven absolutely incredible.

19) Jets- MARK BARRON, S ALABAMA
Eric Smith, while he has been good, makes too many mental mistakes to be the long term option. Barron is a beast, good against the pass, ridiculous against the run and a great tackler. Rex Ryan, here’s your Troy Polamalu.

20) Giants- MANTI TE’O MLB, NOTRE DAME
Another easy pick. Te’o is the best MLB on the board and the Giants need a dominant linebacker. Michael Boley, while playing middle, is actually an outside linebacker. Te’o has incredible sideline to sideline speed as do the other two middle linebackers mentioned.

21) Bengals- ALSHON JEFFREY, WR SOUTH CAROLINA
Do the Bengals have more pressing needs? Sure. But remember, they have two first round picks due to the Carson Palmer deal. Jeffrey is a monster 6’4 230 lbs. He’s not the fastest guy, but he is a great possession receiver and a phenomenal red zone target. Lining him up opposite AJ Green and with Dalton at quarterback would make that offense something incredible to watch in a few years.

22) Lions- ALFONZO DENNARD, CB NEBRASKA
I’ve watched Dennard play a few times this year because I’m a Michigan fan. He is really good. He plays terrific press coverage and has a great nose for the ball. I think he needs to become a better tackler, but he is another one of my underrated first rounder’s and a great fit for the Lions.

23) Browns via Falcons- CORDY GLENN, OG GEORGIA
Glenn hasn’t been great this year, but he’s much better then he’s played. He’s a terrific run blocker and for a team that likes to pound the football, he should fit right in. The question mark is his pass blocking. He’s given up a ton of sacks and has struggled to pick up assignments when teams run blitzes at Georgia’s offensive line, but Alex Mack and Joe Thomas should be able to help him learn.

24) Texans- BRANDON THOMPSON, DT CLEMSON
The Texans have completely revamped their defense and made it one of the best in the league. Shaun Cody has played well, but he’s not the long term answer at nose tackle. Thompson gives then a big nose tackle that plays the run very well. Thompson is a great fit for Houston.

25) Bengals via Raiders- LAMAR MILLER, RB MIAMI FLORIDA
No change here. The Bengals know Cedric Benson is not the guy for the future and Miller is the second best running back in the draft.

26) Cowboys- JANORIS JENKINS, CB NORTHERN ALABAMA
As I said in my last mock draft, Jenkins can fall to the late first round, early second round because of his character flaws and off the field issues. He is incredibly talented and a god cover corner with supreme ball hawking skill and athleticism, but his comparisons to Adam “Pacman” Jones has scouts and teams worried. One team that generally doesn’t worry about character flaws is Dallas, so I see Dallas jumping on his talent and ignoring the issues.

27) Steelers- MELVIN INGRAM, DE SOUTH CAROLINA
The Steelers do need to sure up their defensive lineman and Ingram has top 15 talent. He’s a great pass rusher, solid against the run, and for a team aging in the front seven, Ingram makes sense here.

28) 49ers- JAYRON HOSLEY, CB VIRGINIA TECH
The 49ers need secondary help, but the question will become whether this pick will be Hosley or Brandon Boykin. Boykin is playing extremely well of late and Hosley gives up too many big plays for me to say without question he’s a first round pick. I’ll give the edge to Hosley for now, but look for Boykin to potentially move ahead of him if Hosley doesn’t step up.

29) Patriots via Saints- KEVIN RIDDICK OLB NORTH CAROLINA
DE-FENSE (clap clap). THE PATRIOTS STILL DON’T HAVE IT!!!!!! I don’t care how “well” they have looked against offensively challenged teams of late, when Julian Edelman, A WIDE RECEIVER, is playing nickel back for your team, you have issues.

30) Patriots- BRANDON BOYKIN, CB GEORGIA
Guess what has changed for their last pick? Nothing. They’re still picking defense.

31) Ravens- ZEBRIE SANDERS, OT FLORIDA STATE
With the uncertainty of losing Ben Grubbs to free agency, I think the Ravens will look to bolster their offensive line. I like Sanders’s size and run blocking ability and I think he would fit in well with the Ravens.

32) Packers- ALAMENDA TA’AMU, DT WASHINGTON
While B.J Raji has played well, they still look like they’re missing Cullen Jenkins. The Pack haven’t been the best defensive team despite being 11-0 this year. Ta’amu (6’2 334 lbs) can add attitude and another big, physical presence to a defensive line that always gets hurt. Plus he could play an end for the Packers because they play a 3-4 defense. Is he quick? No. However, as long as he takes up space, he can create lanes for the pass rushers that the Packers have, similar to what the Ravens did in the late 90’s, early 2000’s with Tony Siragusa and Sam Adams.
