A developing story tonight coming out of the NFL’s Monday night football game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Just before the game was set to start between the two teams, the power went out at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. A transformer failure outside the stadium is reportedly to blame for this issue.
Later, three minutes into the second quarter of the game, the power once again went out and did not come back on for another 16 minutes. The power did return, and the game was resumed.
A senior NFL official has confirmed to ESPN that should the power go out again, every effort will be made to complete the game tonight. However, if the matter becomes a threat to public safety, the game will be suspended and completed tomorrow afternoon. Should Candlestick Park be unavailable for the game to be completed tomorrow, then the game will be resumed in Oakland.
