Source: Nets And Nuggets Reach Agreement On Carmelo Trade

Al Iannazzone of The Record is issuing a report stating that the New Jersey Nets and Denver Nuggets have tentatively agreed to a deal that will send F Carmelo Anthony, G Chauncey Billups, C Melvin Ely, F/C Shelden Williams, and F Renaldo Balkman to Newark in return for G Devin Harris, F Derrick Favors, F Troy Murphy, G Ben Uzoh, and four first-round draft picks.

The deal will not be completed, however, until Carmelo Anthony agrees to a three-year contract extension with the Nets. Reports had surfaced that Carmelo had a meeting scheduled for this weekend with Nets majority owner Mikhail Prokorov, but he himself has refuted such.

With the two teams reaching the agreement, it is possible that a season-long standoff between the Nuggets and Anthony will finally come to an end. Despite having a productive season in which he is averaging 25.2 points-per-game, his morale and selfishness have come into question by the fans and media alike, even by his teammates.

Carmelo had stated his desire to play in New York with the Knicks, but talks between Denver and New York have broken down over the past several weeks.

We have no confirmation on a deal at this time, and will report more via our Twitter.
