According to ESPN.com Senior Baseball Writer Buster Olney, the Tampa Bay Rays have agreed to trade pitcher Matt Garza to the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs will be parting with a quality amount of prospects including Chris Archer, who was the number one rated prospect in the Cubs farm system.
This Garza to the Cubs trade has been rumored for months and around 10:45 this morning the two clubs were able to reach an agreement. The 28 year-old Garza went 15-10 with a 3.91 ERA for the AL East Champion Rays last season.
Also headed down to Tampa besides the highly talented Archer are Brandon Guyer, Sam Fuld, Robinson Chirinos and Hak-Ju Lee.
Garza will join a rotation already set with Carlos Zambrano, Carlos Silva, Ryan Dempster and others. The Cubs have not been able to capture a World Series Crown since 1908 so perhaps Garza can bring a title to Wrigley.
