Several reports have surfaced claiming that 2005 Heisman Award winner and (former national champion) Reggie Bush has announced he will return the prestigious award as he faces rulings from the NCAA he was ineligible during that season.

-A few months ago, the NCAA ruled after years of speculation that Bush was indeed accepting improper benefits from sports agencies during the 2005 season, thus making him ineligible for competition.

-USC won the national title over Oklahoma that season, but has since forfeited wins from that year, their replica Heisman for Bush, alongside other penalties.

-Bush, who is now with the world champion New Orleans Saints, released the following through the organization.

“Each individual carries the legacy of the award and each one is entrusted with its good name … It is for these reasons that I have made the difficult decision to forfeit my title as Heisman winner of 2005.”

Reggie is the first person in the history of the award to give it up.
