In a shocking course of events, it appears now there is a deadline for Ilya Kovalchuk to sign with a NHL team. According to Kovalchuk’s agent Yuri Nikolaev, Kovalchuk has 48 hours to sign with a NHL team or else he will be playing elsewhere most presumably the KHL.
Earlier this summer, Kovalchuk received a 3 year $42 million offer from St. Petersburg of the KHL which is non-taxable.
