Not only does SportsFullCircle have one, but we have two demolition updates for all of you on this fine February day! Well, not so fine if you are a New York sports fan…

Let us begin with some pictures from Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands, where seat removal began a few weeks ago.

One can see that a good portion of the lower bowl has been completely removed (some of the bright sections are in fact overturned seats), and it is a rather dispersed removal process.  They appear to be attacking it in a much slower way than done at the nearby Shea Stadium and Yankee Stadium, as those seats were out in days.  In addition, it looks like they are preparing the area around the ill-fated stadium, as once the thing is leveled it will become parking ground. It is also reported that one of the sections however will remain and be converted into a Giants/Jets Great Wall. No news as to what part though.

As for Yankee Stadium, we can now officially say that the old ballpark in the Bronx is about 45% demolished. The entire interior is absolutely gutted, with no reminiscent left of what was the field level or middle deck.  The upper portion of the park remains in tact (for now), alongside the exterior, which is relatively untouched minus the removal of the lettering.

Notice in the next picture the clear demolition of the old escalator/walkway in left field. It has been completely flattened, and is even beginning to deteriorate.  However, also note that it is right next to Gate 2, which is absolutely untouched (on the exterior).  The members of the Save Gate 2 coalition informed me that they have a meeting with the Parks and Recreation Department of the Bronx, and their efforts may be making some progress! One can visit their personal site, or even the brand new Facebook group supporting the efforts!
