Tuesday night’s Florida Panthers vs. Carolina Hurricanes game was far from interesting.
The Hurricanes put a 4-1 beating on the visiting Panthers, yet both teams still remain far on the outside of the playoff picture looking in.
Jussi Jokinen added his 21st goal of the season. Manny Legace saved 19 of 20. That’s about it.
Just as the sell-out crowd of 342 people (all family and friends of course) began to take their Lunesta so they could sleep through the excuse of a hockey game, they were awoken to quite the surprise. Hurricanes “Ice Girls” found a little special someone with his head down, not even paying attention to the game. New York Jets head coach, Rex Ryan.
Just a few weeks after his championship-hungry team was eliminated from the playoffs in the AFC title game, Ryan decided to quench his thirst for brutality by attending a “real blood-fest” at the RBC Center. The only problem seemed to be that Ryan forgot his Cam Ward jersey at home, so the Hurricanes decided to deliver him a complimentary shirt, on the house.
Then, mayhem ensued. Viewer discretion is advised.
We always knew Rex Ryan was gutsy. He’s proven he has no problem sending seven guys to blitz Tom Brady on third down, or even giving the fans a piece of his own mind. There is no need to prove it furthermore.
Yet instead, we have been treated to the glory that is the average American beer belly. But hey, is it not common in today’s society to relinquish the accomplishment of a hard-worked job with a few (or 24) mugs of Sam Adams and a rack (or three) of ribs?
Through it all though, Rex kept his composure, and proved that life is about having a good time. Even if “having a good time” means sub-par seats at a pointless hockey game in the middle of North Carolina.
Thank you Rex Ryan, your inspiration to grab life by the horns shall never be forgotten.
