NFL Divisional Recap: January 16, 2010
New Orleans Saints 45 Arizona Cardinals 14
The Saints weren’t going to let the defending NFC Champions walk all over them in the playoffs. Nuh-uh. Not after ending the regular season on a three-game losing streak.
Drew Brees completed 23 of 32 passes for 247 yards, throwing three touchdown passes to lead the Saints to a blowout victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Brees connected with Jeremy Shockey, Devery Henderson, and Marques Colston on touchdown stirikes all in the first half.
Reggie Bush scored two touchdowns for the Saints: one on a 46-yard run in the 1st quarter, and the other on an 83-yard punt return in the 3rd quarter.
Kurt Warner didn’t have as much success as he did last week against the Green Bay Packers. Warner went 17-of-26 passing for 205 yards, throwing one pass to the New Orleans defense.
Tim Hightower and Beanie Wells each scored a rushing touchdown for Arizona.
With this win, the New Orleans Saints will be playing in the NFC Championship Game, where they will take on the winner of tomorrow’s Dallas/Minnesota game. Regardless of who wins between the Cowboys and the Vikings, we now know that the NFC title game will be played at the Superdome in Louisiana.

Indianapolis Colts 20 Baltimore Ravens 3
A week after scoring 33 against the New England Patriots, the Baltimore Ravens managed to score a grand total of 3 points against the Indianapolis Colts.
Billy Cundiff’s 25-yard field goal was the only Baltimore score of the game. Other than that, it was all Colts all game.
Peyton Manning went 30-of-44 passing for 246 yards, throwing two touchdown strikes to Austin Collie and Reggie Wayne. Both touchdowns were scored in the final two minutes of the first half.
Indianapolis kicker Matt Stover converted on both of his field goal attempts: one from 44 yards, and the other from 33 yards out.
Just like the NFC’s #1 seed, the AFC’s #1 seed will be hosting their respective conference championship game. Indianapolis will play the winner of tomorrow’s Jets/Chargers game.
