On this tender Saturday evening in January, the hot stove shows no signs of cooling down!
-The Baltimore Orioles agreed on a one-year deal with former shortstop Miguel Tejada, who will now play third base for the team. Tejada played for the Orioles from 2004-2007, winning a home run derby in the process. He was traded to the Astros in a five-player deal following 2007, and spent two years at Minute Maid Park.
-In his career, Tejada has belted 284 home runs, while holding a solid .289 average. He won the AL MVP award as a member of the Athletics in 2002.
-Another former MVP for the Athletics, 1B/DH Jason Giambi has re-signed with the Colorado Rockies to for one season. After joining the team in the middle of 2009, Giambi became a useful threat off the bench for the team.
-Johnny Damon is reportedly re-entering contact negotiations with the New York Yankees, this according to SI’s Jon Heyman. Also in his report, Heyman states that the Yankees will give him a few days to lower his price, or the team will move on.
