Gilbert Arenas Suspended Indefinitely

Wizards superstar guard Gilbert Arenas has been suspended indefinitely by the National Basketball League, effective immediately.

-On Christmas Eve, reports came out that Arenas had brought unloaded firearms into the Wizards locker room at the Verizon Center, something that is strictly prohibited by the NBA.

-About a week later, it was said that Arenas and teammate Javaris Crittenton had drawn guns on each other while arguing over debts.  Arenas stated the incident was “just a joke.”

-Gilbert missed all but two games in 2008-2009, and had been attempting to make a triumphant return to the court after signing a six-year, $111 million deal in the prior off-season.

-Commissioner David Stern stated that “[Gilbert's] ongoing misconduct has led to his indefinite suspension.”

-Arenas is averaging 22.6 points per game this season, and was a leading candidate for the All-Star game next month.

-The suspension will last at least until the NBA finishes its investigation into the situation.
