Hasn’t the world’s #1 golfer gotten enough attention since his car accident outside his Florida home? Apparently not. Now, Tiger Woods is getting even more attention after announcing his indefinite leave of absence from the sport of golf.

“I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person,” said Tiger on his website. He and his wife, Elin, have been married for five years, and Tiger wants time off the golf course to save his marriage.

Woods has allegedly been involved in multiple extramarital affairs, which has been the subject of his media attention during the past fortnight. Tiger was not seen in public ever since his car struck a tree and fire hydrant outside his Florida home.

“I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children,” Woods added. “I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I’ve done, but I want to do my best to try.”

Tiger gave no indication as to when he will return to the golf course. At 33 years of age, he is pursuing Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 major championships; Woods currently has 14.
