Saints Perfect No More

We started Week 15 with two unbeaten teams, but heading into Sunday, we know that there will be only one unbeaten team heading into Week 16.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the Dallas Cowboys, known for their struggles in the month of December, have defeated the unbeaten New Orleans Saints, and who would have guessed that DeMarcus Ware, who suffered a fatal neck injury last week against the Chargers, would have ended the Saints’ final shot at perfection?

Leading 24-17 late in the 4th quarter, Nick Folk missed a 24-yard field goal to give New Orleans a chance to tie the game. Unfortunately, for Drew Brees and the Saints, they fell victim to DeMarcus Ware, whose second sack of the game forced a fumble that was ultimately recovered by Dallas’ Jay Ratliff. Ware’s other sack of the game also resulted in a fumble that was recovered by Dallas’ Anthony Spencer; the turnover led to a 44-yard Nick Folk field goal at the end of the first half.

Cowboys QB Tony Romo completed 22 of 34 passes for 312 yards, throwing one touchdown strike to Miles Austin in the first quarter. Marion Barber carried the ball seventeen times for 62 yards, finding the endzone twice for Dallas, who improved to 9-5 on the season.

Saints QB Drew Brees went 29-of-45 passing for 298 yards, throwing a touchdown strike to Lance Moore; however, Brees threw a pass to Dallas’ Mike Jenkins.
