Larry Fitzgerald Injures Knee; MRI Scheduled for Tuesday

by Derek Johnson on Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald sprained his right knee in last night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.

On the third play of the third quarter, the 26-year old from Minneapolis, Minnesota tried to catch a pass from Kurt Warner, but Dashon Goldson landed on Fitzgerald’s knee; the reigning Pro Bowl MVP was helped off the field. Fitzgerald returned to the game later in the quarter, but didn’t catch another pass; he finished the game with just two catches for 22 yards.

“When he hurt his knee, we thought that there was a big scare, it might be something long-term,” said Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt. “But obviously it was encouraging to see him come back. We’ll get him checked out.”

An MRI on Fitzgerald’s knee is scheduled for Tuesday.
