Jazz Score Just 6 Points in 4th Quarter; Fall to Lakers
Scoring seven points in a quarter isn’t a difficult task to do in the NBA, but don’t tell that to the Utah Jazz, who managed to score just six in the final quarter against the Los Angeles Lakers. After having scored 71 points in the first three quarters, Utah was outscored 28 to 6 in the final period of play, losing to the defending NBA champions by a score of 101 to 77.
In that 4th quarter alone, the Lakers went 7-of-22 shooting from the floor and converted on 12 of 15 shots from the charity stripe. The Jazz, however, made just 2 out of 18 field goals while hitting both of their free throws. The Lakers forced five Utah turnovers and scored ten fast break points.
It was Los Angeles’ 10th consecutive win.
The Lakers led by just two points after three quarters, but became the first team since the Blazers on December 30, 2007 to win a game by at least 24 points after leading by at most two points after three quarters.
As for the Jazz, they became the ninth team in the NBA’s shot clock era to score at most six points in the fourth quarter. Utah has lost eight of its last ten head-to-head matchups against the Lakers.
