Hot Stove Update: 12/4

Here is a look at some hot stove news that has been crossing the wires today:

-The Milwaukee Brewers have reportedly inked 38-year old C Greg Zaun to a deal, alongside making an offer for INF Craig Counsell to return.  Zaun will make almost $2 million, while Counsell’s outline is unknown.

-ESPN’s Buster Olney stated that the Yankees just had an executive meeting, and announced that they will attempt to cut their payroll to around $185 million.  This comes just one year after the team spent $450 million on three players alone.

-The Mariners are expected to officially ink 3B  Chone Figgins to a four-year deal, worth about $35 million.

-In addition, the Angels are said to have begun investigating options so they can deal the monster contract of Gary Matthews Jr.

-The Braves may have some interest in Marlon Byrd, while the Rockies have found themselves intrigued by Orlando Hudson.
