Hot Stove Rumors: Rays In On Halladay, Jackson Trade, Other Notes

by Jon Alba on Monday, December 7th, 2009

With the Winter Meetings picking up heat, rumors are coming in by the minute.

-Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports continues to be a primary source here, as the Tampa Bay Rays are apparently heavily in on Roy Halladay.  Yes. Not the Yankees.  Not the Red Sox.  The Rays.  The teams is willing to offer highly regarded prospect Wade Davis and OF B.J. Upton.

-Some may recall that the team was in on Halladay at the deadline last year, but could not pull off a deal.

-In addition, Ken stands by his report that Edwin Jackson is near being dealt, possibly to the Mariners or Diamondbacks. If this is the case, the Mariners will have added two substantial players to their lineup in the past week, as they inked Chone Figgins a few days back.

-MLB Trade Rumors says that the Yanks and Mets are talking about Kelvim Escobar, whom the former are fairly familiar with.  Escobar played in the AL East as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays a several years ago.

-The Brewers are prepared to make an offer to Randy Wolf.  The lefty has spent the past few seasons with the Dodgers, and is considered one of the better pitchers on the market this off-season.  No details on the contract offer at this point.
