Cowboys Cut Folk; Sign Suisham

Just when you thought the Redskins’ kicking situation was bizarre enough, how about this? Shaun Suisham, who started this year as the Redskins’ primary kicker, signed with their arch nemesis, the Dallas Cowboys. Believe it or not, that has happened folks…or should I say…Folk.

Yes, Cowboys fans, Nick Folk has been cut by the Dallas Cowboys after missing a 24-yard chip shot late in the 4th quarter against the New Orleans Saints.

Thought that was bizarre? Flash back to Week 13: New Orleans Saints at Washington Redskins. 1:56 left in regulation, Redskins up by 7 points. Suisham gets ready for a 23-yard field goal…AND HE MISSES WIDE RIGHT!!!

Fast forward to Week 15: Dallas Cowboys at New Orleans Saints. 2:19 left in regulation, Cowboys up by 7 points. Folk gets ready for a 24-yard field goal…AND HE HITS THE RIGHT UPRIGHT!!!

Strange, but true…and BOTH missed field goals happened to be against the New Orleans Saints.

Suisham, a former Cowboy, was one of five kickers that tried out for the Cowboys on Monday; the other four were Shane Andrus, Parker Douglass, Steven Hauschka, and Connor Hughes.

Suisham was kicking for Washington in Week 11 during the first Cowboys/Redskins game of the year. Five weeks later, Suisham will be kicking for Dallas during the second Cowboys/Redskins game of the year.

“I can’t thank the Cowboys enough for giving me an opportunity with them,” said Suisham. “I’m so happy and excited about it and I feel like I have a lot to offer the organization.” After all, he did miss two field goals in that first game against the Cowboys.
