Breaking News: Flyers Fire John Stevens

Breaking news out of the National Hockey League, as the Philadelphia Flyers have fired head coach John Stevens after a 13-11-1 start.

-The Flyers have lost six of their last seven overall, falling into tenth place in the Eastern Conference.

-Stevens was named coach of the Flyers in 2006, being given a two-year extension soon after.

-Additionally, John played in the NHL from 1986-1999, having been forced to retire due to longing injuries.

-He was drafted by Philadelphia as the 47th overall pick in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft.

-In 2007-2008, he was named The Hockey News Coach of the Year for leading the Flyers to the Eastern Conference Finals.  They were promptly eliminated by the Pittsburgh Penguins during this time.

-No replacement has been immediately named.
