Three weeks ago, the Montreal Alouettes crushed the Eskimos by a score of 50 to 16. This week, the Eskimos got their revenge by handing the Alouettes their first loss of the season. With a 33-19 victory over Montreal, Edmonton improved to 3-2 on the season while Montreal fell to 4-1.

Eskimos’ quarterback Ricky Ray completed 23 of 27 passes for 363 yards, throwing two touchdown strikes to Fred Stamps and one to Calvin McCarty; Ray also scored a touchdown on the ground.

Montreal’s Anthony Calvillo went 28-of-34 for 236 yards; he and Damon Allen are now the only quarterbacks in CFL history to accumulate 60,000 passing yards.

Avon Cobourne scored the only touchdown for Montreal in the 4th quarter; he finished the game with 58 rushing yards on eleven carries.

After the game, Fred Stamps said, “It was a big win for us, no question. We had a lot of new guys but it feels like our team is starting to come together now, starting to jell.”

Montreal’s Damon Duval was 4-of-4 on his field goal attempts while Eskimos kicker Noel Prefontaine made just one field goal on two attempts.
