Huge trade just broke in the NHL as the Los Angeles Kings have acquired forward Ryan Smyth from the Colorado Avalanche. Colorado will receive two defensemen, Kyle Quincy and Tom Preissing, as well as a fifth round draft pick for the 2010 draft.

Smyth, 33, scored 26 goals and 33 assists in 77 games last season. He is heading into the third year of a five-year $31.25 million contract he signed during the free agency of 2007.
