Kerry Wood’s return to Wrigley Field has gone from bad to worse as he blows his second save in two days against his former team. Wood pitched the 13th inning and allowed the Cubs to score two runs and win in walk-off fashion for the third consecutive day; it was also the third consecutive come-from-behind victory for the Cubs.

Luis Valbuena hit two home runs in the game, including the go-ahead solo shot in the 13th inning that gave Cleveland a 5-4 lead. However, in the bottom half of that inning, Andres Blanco’s RBI single to center field drove in Kosuke Fukodome. Blanco then scored the winning run on a Kerry Wood wild pitch.

Derrek Lee and Micah Hoffpauir both hit two-run blasts for Chicago, who improved to 33-31 on the year.

After the game, Cubs manager Lou Pinella said, “You have mixed feelings about that. Obviously you like to beat the Cleveland club. Woody did really nice things here in the two years I was here and for this organization in the past. But our job is to go out and whoever is out there try to win a baseball game and that’s what we’ve done.”
