Just like last year, the Pittsburgh Penguins advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. Unlike last year, Sidney Crosby actually TOUCHED the Prince of Wales Trophy.

Actually, make it Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, AND Sergei Gonchar HOISTED the trophy.

“We didn’t touch [the trophy] last year, and things didn’t go the way we wanted,” said Crosby. “I thought we’d change it up this year.” If he keeps up his playing style, he may very well hoist the Stanley Cup…and shatter an NHL superstition.

The game got off to a good start when Eric Staal scored just 96 seconds into the game. However, Ruslan Fedotenko netted the equalizer just seven minutes later. Things started to fall apart for the Hurricanes when Maxime Talbot floated a shot past Cam Ward, which proved to the not only the game-winner, but also the series-winner for the Penguins.

Bill Guerin scored his seventh goal of the postseason to increase the Pittsburgh lead to two. Craig Adams added the icing on the cake when he scored his third goal of the postseason with Cam Ward on the bench.

The Penguins will now play the winner of the Red Wings/Blackhawks series.
