Detroit Red Wings 4 Anaheim Ducks 1 - Johan Franzen opened the scoring in the second period when he netted his 7th goal of the postseason. Franzen now has scored twenty goals during the last two postseasons, which leads the NHL. Jiri Hudler, Darren Helm, and Henrik Zetterberg also scored for Detroit, who are now one victory away from making their third consecutive appearance in the Western Conference Finals. Ryan Whitney scored the only goal for Anaheim; it was his first goal as a Duck and his first since February 16 when he was with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Boston Bruins 4 Carolina Hurricanes 0 - The Boston Bruins refused to be eliminated as they shutout the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of four to nothing. The Bruins unleashed 40 shots on Cam Ward, who stopped 36 of them. Phil Kessel scored twice for Boston while Mark Recchi and Milan Lucic added a goal apiece. Tim Thomas stopped 19 of 19 Carolina shots to earn his first career playoff shutout.
