In perhaps the most exciting playoff series in NBA history, the defending champion Boston Celtics found themselves in a seventh game against the seventh-seeded Chicago Bulls. In the first six games of the series, the two teams played a total of seven overtime periods, three of which were played in Game 6. However, no overtime was to be played in Game 7 as the Celtics emerged victorious behind a strong 2nd quarter, during which Boston outscored Chicago 29 to 11.

With this victory, the Celtics will now face the Orlando Magic in the conference semifinals.

Ben Gordon led all scorers with 33 for Chicago while Ray Allen led his Celtics in scoring with 23.

“It was a long, grueling series. I thought this was one of the most mentally tough series I’ve ever been in,” said Boston Small Forward Paul Pierce. “Thank goodness we were battle-tested and we were able to pull this out in seven games. … We still are the champs until somebody knocks us off.”
