ESPN 2K5. The best football game I have ever played. Every video game freak, unlike me because I suck at them, I have asked of what is their favorite football video game, they say ESPN NFL 2K5.
IGN says its “the best 20-dollar-game ever played. End of story.” But why end it when we just started? Now I really don’t write this stuff, but after reading one of Tanner Kish’s Piss Fumes articles, which involved video games, I decided to make a video game article myself.
I have a XBOX 360 but I suck at video games but one time when I went to my cousin’s house back in 2005, he asked me if I wanted to play a football game. I said “sure” and I thought it would be one of those Madden games. It was a game I never heard of, because I am really not into video games, but it was called ESPN NFL 2K5.
Terrell Owens was on the cover. I decided I didn’t want to play. You thought I was stupid but in 2005, that is when T.O. began a feud with Donovan McNabb. Remember that? I was like, “T.O. is on it. I’m out of here!”
But then I played it, and it was on my cousin’s (who is now turning 18 I think) Playstation Two, and it was pretty fun. I had to keep tapping on the “X” button when I had to run. In Madden, on the PS2 console, you hold on to “X” for running the ball.
So in 2K5, it is a little more harder.
And despite the fact the price of the game is the price of a game for a one-to-two-week rental, it should be 100 dollars, and you know why! Because it was fantastic.
And unlike Madden, you get the real football experience! Ever seen Madden show some pre-game, halftime, and post-game show? I think not. And guess who is in those shows. Does the name BOOMER ring a bell?
When I was playing that game and it was halftime, it was like those halftime shows you see on TV. Madden has never done that. In Madden 2009, they finally show touchdown celebrations that players do. But in ESPN 2K5, they have unique ones for every player! I am beginning to think that 2K5 was years beyond John Madden and his crew.
In the game, you actually watch SportsCenter, so you won’t skip the nonsense bull crap you see in Madden. It even shows the highlights of the games you didn’t even play at all.
You see where I am getting here?
2K5 has also done something that Madden 2009 has just done. In ESPN 25th anniversary thing, you get replay one of the best games, classics! In Madden, they just freaking started.
And in Franchise Mode, before a game, you can train your players for the upcoming battle and it gains their level up or something like that. It can even improve the player’s individual stats for the clash of the titans.
And there is many many more things I can explain. The IGN review has it all! I just wondered why it was the last game in the ESPN NFL 2K series. Just wonder what 2K9 would be like.
Future, here we come!
I heard from my other cousin, another video gaming freak, about what happened to the series. He said Madden bought it. Those rotten, dirty, flabby-chest pain-in-the-butt-holes. I could have said something worse but I think saying this would be safer.
So you see? This is the best video game ever. Just wish the video gaming world can see more games like this. One hell of a game that it was. Maybe we can see a return.
What if? That’s the question, though.
Fans, you decide!

Yeah after 2005, the NFL auctioned off an exclusive license and EA Sports won the bidding so now they are the only ones who can make NFL video games so we have to suffer through EA Sports horrible Madden games every year. I miss 2k5.
