Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge is in the hospital after suffering a mild heart attack. He is at Massachusetts General Hospital, currently resting and recovering.

Ainge, 50, had the heart attack at about 5 AM ET on Thursday while he was sleeping. The Celtics released a statement saying that he was “recovering nicely.” He is expected to stay in the hospital for a few more days.

“It was scary, but he’s doing well,” Ainge’s son, Austin, said. “We’re relieved because all of the tests came back. We expect him to be up and around in the next day or so. It’s under control.”

Ainge is a former Celtics guard and won two championships with the team. He has been the GM since 2003. He paved the way for the Celtics last year for the team to win their first NBA title since 1986.

We will keep you updated later on Ainge’s condition.

I have been a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan since I was a little girl. I'm also a HUGE fan of the Duke Blue Devils, New York Giants, AC Milan, Boston Bruins, and Boston Celtics. My favorite sports player of all time is Chipper Jones. I also like JJ Redick, Eli Manning, and Patrice Bergeron. Baseball is my favorite sport and most knowledgeable area, but I love to follow football and other sports, too. When I'm older, I'm hoping to become a sports orthopedic surgeon, and be the next Dr. James Andrews when he steps down.
