Boston Red Sox 5 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 4
Two days after the death of rookie pitcher Nick Adenhart, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim hosted the second game of a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox. The Angels had won the first game by a score of 6 to 3 after paying an emotional tribute to Adenhart.
On Saturday, it was Boston who came out on top in a game where each team had a player who hit two home runs and another player who hit one home run in the game.
For the Angels, Mike Napoli went yard in the 3rd inning and hit another one out of the park in the 5th inning. Torii Hunter also hit a dinger in the bottom of the 9th inning in the Angels’ failed comeback attempt.
For the Red Sox, Jason Bay was responsible for the last three Boston runs, hitting a 2-run home run in the 7th inning and a solo blast in the 9th to give the Red Sox a 5-3 lead heading into the bottom half of the inning. Mike Lowell’s 2-run blast in the 5th were the first runs scored by Boston.
