NHL FRIDAY NIGHT LINEUP

Only two games are in the works tonight, but I’ll tell you why one of these games is very important for two Western Conference playoff teams.

The first game, starting at 8:30 PM EST, features the Columbus Blue Jackets, who defeated the Penguins last night in a shootout, traveling to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks, who will again be without forward Patrick Sharp. The team will, however, have Martin Havlat back in the lineup after he missed one game with a lower body injury.

The only reason I see this game having potential to be a very important game is because the Blackhawks are currently sitting in 4th place in the Western Conference with 83 points, and the Blue Jackets are in 6th with 76 points. Chicago does, however, have 3 games in hand on the Jackets, but a win for Columbus would put them at a close five points behind Chicago.

The only other game has the fifth place Vancouver Canucks playing host to the stumbling Los Angeles Kings. That game will start at 10 PM EST from the General Motors Place in Vancouver. This game is big for Vancouver as they would like to end a two-game losing skid on the road; returning home should give the team an extra boost.

More to come including a post game report from both games. Stay tuned!

  3. Welcome Marc! Yeah I saw you on facebook, so figured you knew Alba. Good thing you decided to join when he decided to take his vacation…to…whereever he went.

I do write about the NHL here, as well as my friend Mike Cosentino, but we’re on heavy schedules this time around. Plus, I also try to write about anything I see in the world of sports be it MLB, NFL, NHL, or even the NBA.

Nice first article by the way! Can’t wait to see the outcomes of both games. Need Ladd, Kopitar, and Quick to get me some points for fantasy.

  4. thanks man!! so are we going to each cover a game a night or what?

  5. That is up to you Marc. If you want to cover all games in the NHL, fine. For me, I only cover Capitals games for the most part, although I wrote a Thrashers/Oilers recap after watching the overtime period of that game last night.
