Clemens Found to be Linked to McNamee
Drug items that Brian McNamee said he injected into New York Yankees’ pitcher Roger Clemens have been found with performance-enhancing substances in them.
McNamee has admitted to injecting steroids and human growth hormones into Clemens in 2000 and 2001 with syringes, vials, and gauze pads. McNamee has kept the items in his basement, hidden in a FedEx box.
While asked about it in front of Congress, Clemens said that McNamee did inject him, but it wasn’t with steroids or any other performance-enhancing drugs. He said that McNamee only injected vitamin B-12 and a painkiller called lidocaine. It is being investigated whether or not Clemens lied in front of Congress when he denied using steroids.
McNamee’s lawyer, Richard Emery, told the Associated Press, “I assumed, and I am not surprised, that the tests were positive for both DNA and for performance-enhancing drugs, because that’s what Brian said all along, and there’s not much doubt that Brian’s been telling the truth. The confirmation of that fact, once again, just seems to me to be another significant step towards jail for Clemens.”
With all these different types of steroids out there nowadays, you never know who is actually playing clean. It is sad that some players decided to ruin a great sport by giving it a bad reputation.
