Sheppard to Jets

After a long and at times rocky relationship with the Philadelphia Eagles, CB Lito Sheppard was traded to the Jets for a 2009 5th round pick and a conditional pick in the 2010 draft depending on playing time.

With the emergence of Sheldon Brown in Philadelphia, Sheppard was bumped down a notch to the 3rd CB and was unhappy with the Eagles handling of the situation. His move to the Jets will allow him to slide in nicely as the number 2 CB behind Darrelle Revis, as Ty Law will enjoy more time on the bench or be given a release.

Additionally, this move and the rumored reports of Corey Ivy being close to signing with the Jets means that Dwight Lowery may be bumped down to the number 5 corner back on the roster. The good news for Lowry though, is that the Jets need at strong safety may be filled with Lowry trying to switch positions to win a starting job somewhere on this roster.
