ENOUGH!! LEAVE ALEX ALONE!
ALL RIGHT! WE GET IT!!
What so far have we learned in the last two weeks?
- Alex Rodriguez used steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs, and was willing to admit it.
- He’s got a lot of controversy around him, especially since he was supposed to be the rightful heir to Hank Aaron’s career home run record.
- He caused a lot of it by not giving full answers and chalking all of his mistakes up to his youth and immaturity.
- Thanks to Alex’s previous lies in past interviews, nobody - myself included - knows whether to believe him or not.
- His cousin didn’t inject him; a notorious steroid dealer did. A notorious, MAJOR LEAGUE BANNED steroid dealer.
- Did I mention that his steroid didn’t come over the counter? No? Well, I just did.
And needless to say, his conference and interview didn’t answer any questions; it actually brought more up.
But what most importantly HAVEN’T we learned?
THE OTHER 103 NAMES ON THAT 2003 STEROID “SURVEY”.
Look, I want to know what happened with Alex and his run-in with steroids - and how long that lasted. I want to know WHY he didn’t tell the truth when he had a chance to (reminds one of Barry Bonds’ 2003 grand jury testimony, doesn’t it? When he had a chance to tell the truth - without prosecution - he balked and chose to lie). And even as the Pinstripe Pundit, I by no means condone, ignore, or excuse anything morally wrong and physically illicit that he did.
But the whole week shouldn’t have been spent ripping apart Alex’s life and past - even though it probably would have happened later on anyway. The “progress” that was supposed to have been made in cleaning baseball of steroids did nothing more than assail his reputation, when more names could have been revealed and someone else could be taking the heat. These guilty players and ex-players have been lying in their cozy homes built by dishonesty and greed; thanks to all the attention shown to A-Rod, they’ll be ready to back it up with sob stories, lawyers, and all other sorts of bureaucratic bullcrap - including the ever dubious line, “Talk to the union/Speak to my union rep.”
To those who want to stop this steroid madness and let the truth come out, do you want to do more than further ruin Alex Rodriguez’s life and legacy?
Do you want to show these players that years of ambiguity in baseball does not excuse their actions?
DO YOU WANT TO MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE?
Then leave Alex alone and GO GET THEM. Let THOSE PLAYERS be revealed so that the one person that did own up (as somewhat shallow as it was) can be left to play his season in less hell than he’s in right now.

Ok Chris Crocker
Haha I don’t know about calling his Chris Crocker, but you certainly bring up a good point. Unfortunately, the media loves Arod more than anything so until someone like Pujols (or someone of that stature) is found to have used steroids, Arod’s the prime target.
A-Rod lied before he was caught. Therefore, we are allowed to rip on him for as long as we want. He brought it upon himself by cheating. 2 wrongs doesn’t make a right, so the other 103 names shouldn’t be revealed.
Alex’s name never should have been leaked, but now that it has he deserves the public beating.
Also, how did he not keep juicing during his time in NY, he said he did it because of pressure, but theres 1 million times more pressure in New York than in Texas
First, thanks for all your comments.
Alex, I agree that he had no right to do what he did (and his whole “pressure” argument holds no water since the Rangers didn’t even come CLOSE to contending in his tenure there). But Selig claims that he wants to see this mess go away (and also that he tried his best to confront it during th juicy 80’s, 90’s, and early 00’s - right…), so why scorch one name on the list (as big a deal as it is) when 103 other players are shoring up for the possible blowup? And anyway, I wasn’t writing based on his lies before; I was writing because the biggest name on that list is taking the heat of those who should come out. Just because Rodriguez is the biggest name there doesn’t mean that the other 103 players don’t deserve their 15 minutes of shame while he gets 45 based solely on his press conference. Two wrongs don’t make a right, but what does THAT have to do with the 103 that STILL haven’t been revealed?
Great points Silverman, we finally agree on something.
This A-Rod thing is kind of getting out of hand. Ok, he did steroids, he admitted it, now let’s punish him and move on with our lives. While all this is going on, Barry Bonds is sitting here still with the homerun record, and no one is saying anything about him. We should just move on with our lives, and start talking about everyone else that did steroids, not just single out A-Rod.
