Scott Clemmensen made 27 saves en route to his first shutout in almost five years. With a 3-0 win over the New York Rangers, the red hot New Jersey Devils improve to 34-17-3 on the season. The Rangers, who have lost their last five games, fell to 29-20-5 on the year.
The 17,625 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey witnessed Bobby Holik score the first goal of the game in the second period with assists coming from Brendan Shanahan and Patrik Elias. Zach Parise scored a minute-and-a-half later on the power play with assists from Travis Zajac and Jamie Langenbrunner. After two periods, New Jersey led 2 to 0.
Parise would find the empty net late in the third period to seal the shutout for Clemmensen. Zajac and Langenbrunner also assisted on the last goal by Parise.
