Brodeur In, Clemmensen Out

by Derek Johnson on Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

With the return of Martin Brodeur, Scott Clemmensen has been sent down to the Lowell Devils of the American Hockey League. Brodeur had missed the last four months of the regular season with an elbow injury sustained in a November 1, 2008 game against the Atlanta Thrashers. Brodeur, who will start tonight on Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche, has gone 6-2-2 this season so far with a 2.16 GAA and a save percentage of 0.916.

Clemmensen played well in place of Brodeur, going 25-13-1 in the NHL with a 2.39 GAA. The 31-year old from Des Moines, Iowa has stopped 91.7% of all shots faced.

  1. Mike Cosentino says:

If I’m Clemmensen I’d be pissed. I spend months keeping the team in the playoffs while Marty is out and to thank me you send me down to the AHL? Maybe, its so he can continue getting starts but Clemmensen does not deserve to be sent down.

  2. Hell yeah I agree with that man. They initially thought about having Scott Clemmensen as their #2 guy, and with the goaltending fiasco in Buffalo from Miller’s high ankle sprain to Lalime’s flu-like symptoms, the Sabres were thinking about picking up Kevin Weekes before the trade deadline. Now I think the Sabres should get Scott Clemmensen because NO WAY IN HELL Jhonas Enroth will win if he starts today against Carolina. In fact, it’s probably worthy to point out that Jhonas Enroth had not won in his last 9 starts with AHL Portland.
