Shaquille O’Neal set the stage for the 2009 NBA All-Star Game at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona…LITERALLY! In his 15th All-Star appearance, Shaq decided to do something new: Dance with Jabbawockeez, the season one champs of America’s Best Dance Crew. Check out his hilarious entrance:
For the record, the name of the song playing in the background is “Hero” by Nas.
Okay enough of that, let’s get to the actual game!
Behind 27 points from Kobe Bryant and 17 from Shaq, the former duo shared MVP honors as they led the Western Conference All-Stars to a 146-119 victory over the Eastern Conference All-Stars. Bryant also had 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 assists in the game.
Lebron James led the East with 20 points while Dwayne Wade scored 18. However, the East ended up shooting 47 of 100 from the court; the West, on the other hand, made 65 of 106 field goals.
Shaq said, “It felt like old times. I miss those times. He was really looking for me, especially when we went to a pick-and-roll and they had Rashard Lewis on me.”
Mike Brown, coach for the Eastern squad, said, “I tell you what, those two guys together, that’s a deadly combination as we all saw tonight and we have all seen in the past. They are where they are right now, but if they were to stay together, no telling how many more rings they would have had on their fingers and toes.”
