Jim Caldwell Introduced as Colts Coach
The Indianapolis formerly introduced their new Head Coach, Jim Caldwell, today. Caldwell was the Colts QB Coach from 2002-2005, and was the Assistant Head Coach from 2005-2008. He replaces a Colts legend in Tony Dungy, but said in his press conference that he expects to thrive as the new Coach, and promised loyal Colts fans that they would continue to be a great team in the NFL.
The 53-year-old Wisconsin native has a lot of experience under his belt. He was an Assistant Coach for Iowa, Southern Illinois, Northwestern, Colorado, Lousiville, and Penn St from 1977-1992, and from 1993 was Head Coach of Wake Forest. In 2001, he was an Assistant to Dungy with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and left with him for Indianapolis the next year.
Last year, when Tony Dungy was thinking about retirement, the Colts made it known that Caldwell would be the next Colts Head Coach. The decision had already been made when Dungy retired Monday, ending the Tony Dungy Era, and beginning the Jim Caldwell Era for the Colts.
