Yankees Still Have Holes to Fill

Whatever the Yankees want, the Yankees get. Yankees wanted CC Sabathia, and surely, they get him. Sabathia, according to the New York Post, agreed to a 7-year, $161 Million deal. Although CC was their number one target this off-season, the Yanks’ aggressive approach towards other pitchers did not fade; this group includes Ben Sheets, A.J. Burnett, Derek Lowe, and Andy Pettite. They still need about two more pitchers and an offensive upgrade (preferably a center fielder/first baseman) to be considered a serious contender in one of the toughest divisions in baseball, the AL East. At the moment they have offered A.J. Burnett a multi-year contract, however Burnett has not yet decided on it.

Rumors started circulating about a trade including sending Cano to the L.A. Dodgers for Matt Kemp and a pitching prospect. However, Dodgers GM Ned Colletti shot down this rumor shortly after. He said that he has not discussed with the Yankees since July. Nonetheless, the Yankees are going to be after an outfielder, and do not think that after one big move they are even close to done with this off-season.
