Present for Pettitte? Not so much.

by Jon Alba on Thursday, December 25th, 2008

Newsday is reporting that the New York Yankees are set to pull their “final” offer off the table from Andy Pettitte, who is considered one of the team’s franchise players.  Pettitte, 36, was looking for a 1 year/$16 Million deal, which would have been equivalent to what he made last season.  The Yankees offer stood at 1 year/$10 Million.  The contract offer had been on the table for more than a month now.

Pettitte went 14-14 last season, with a 4.54 era and 158 k’s.  This leaves CC Sabathia as the only southpaw in the Yankees rotation.
