Furcal and Braves Reach Agreement

Former Atlanta Braves shortstop Rafael Furcal agreed to a three-year deal on Tuesday with his old team. With this agreement, the Braves intend to restore the 31-year old from the Dominican Republic to the top of their lineup. However, they also intend to retain Kelly Johnson and Yunel Escobar on the lineup as well.

Furcal played in Atlanta from 2000-2005, during which he stole a total of 189 bases. In his rookie campaign, he hit .295 and stole 40 bases, which was good enough to win him the National League Rookie of the Year Award. He is perhaps most famous for turning an unassisted triple play against the St. Louis Cardinals on August 10, 2003.

ESPN SportsNation asked sports fans the following question: Is Rafael Furcal a good fit for the Braves? Of the 10,295 who responded, 74.9% said yes.
