Yankees Modify CC Offer, Plan More Offers for Others

While it appeared that the originally reported 5 year/$150 million deal the New York Yankees were set to offer CC Sabathia was too good to be true, it now seems imminent.  With a slight modification however.

Reports now state it will be a 6 year/$140 million, with encentives possibly extending to an extra $10 million.  This offer highly exceeds the Brewers 5 year/$100 million proposition made earlier this month, and we may find out soon if CC Sabathia will be a New York Yankee.

Also, the Yankees stated today they will make a pitch (no pun intended) at P A.J. Burnett as well as former Red Sox ace Derek Lowe.  If the team is able to lock up one of these players, a serious run at 1B Mark Teixeira may soon be out of the plan.
