Despite blowing a 24-6 lead, the New York Jets managed to squeak by the New England Patriots thanks to a 34-yard field goal by Jay Feely in overtime.
Jets quarterback Brett Favre completed 26 of 33 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns to Jerricho Cotchery and Leon Washington. New England’s Matt Cassel went 30-of-51 for 400 yards, throwing touchdowns to Jabar Gaffney, Benjamin Watson, and Randy Moss. Cassel threw a touchdown to Moss with one second left in the 4th quarter to send the game into overtime.
With this win, the 7-3 New York Jets are now first in the AFC East while the New England Patriots fell to 6-4 on the season. The Jets have sole possession of first place in the division for the first time since November 19, 2001.
