With a 29-21 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Edmonton Eskimos became the first West Division team to win a playoff game as a crossover team since the CFL implemented the crossover rule in 1996.
Edmonton quarterback Ricky Ray completed 27 of 37 passes for 303 yards. However, it was A.J. Harris who found the endzone for Edmonton; Harris carried the ball 13 times for 33 yards, finding the Winnipeg goal area twice.
As for Winnipeg, Kevin Glenn completed 15 of 34 passes for 233 yards, throwing one touchdown to Romby Bryant. However, Glenn threw a pass to Edmonton’s Fred Perry.
Noel Prefontaine converted on 2 of 4 field goal attempts, hitting from 23 and 28 yards out. He also scored singles off a missed 38-yard field goal and a punt.
Edmonton will play the Montreal Alouettes in the East Final, which will be played next Saturday at 12 PM EST on TSN and TSN HD. The two teams played twice this year, with each team winning one game. Montreal won 40-4 at home in late September while Edmonton won 37-14 on October 31.
