The Anaheim Ducks have made a statement today that general manager, Brian Burke, will be relieved of his managerial duties for the remainder of the season. Burke will remain with the Ducks this season as a senior adviser but senior vice president of hockey operations, Bob Murray comes in. Chicago Blackhawk fans should remember Murray as he was GM for the team previously. Burke led the Anaheim Ducks to the Stanley Cup in 2006-07 becoming the first West coast based team to win the Cup.
This is the final year in Brian Burke’s contract meaning he is free to become a GM for another team if he wants to. It has always been rumoured that he would become the next Toronto Maple Leafs GM after John Ferguson Jr. was fired last season.
Side Note: Personally I am tired of Toronto Maple Leaf rumours (Brian Burke, Mats Sundin among others) it gets depressing. So think of a Toronto Maple Leafs joke and place a comment and if I laugh, you get a guest spot in my series the NHL Love Connection (of course what you say is totally up to me mwhahaha!!!).
