Philadelphia Phillies 8 Los Angeles Dodgers 5

Phillies pitcher Brett Myers had a huge day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs as he helped his Philadelphia team defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 8 to 5. This win gives Philadelphia a 2-0 lead in the NLCS series.

Manny Ramirez hit a home run for the Dodgers, but the Phillies overcame that. Shane Victorino drove in four runs for Philadelphia en route to their third straight postseason victory.

Myers said, “I’m not a very good hitter. I just get lucky occasionally. I’m baffled by it. I would’ve rather pitched better.” Myer became the first pitcher in the National League to get three hits in a Championship Series game.

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel was managing today, even though his mother had passed away a few hours ago. The opposing manager, Joe Torre, said, “I know Charlie told me he talked to his mom on a regular basis and her only concern was for him to go out and win ballgames.”

Philadelphia closer Brad Lidge said, “We were pretty shocked to hear it. We really wanted to win today for Charlie.”
