Filatov Sent to Syracuse

Left wing Nikita Filatov, selected 6th overall in the 2008 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets, will not be playing in the NHL this upcoming season. Instead, you will be watching Filatov play in a Syracuse Crunch uniform.

The 18-year old from Moscow, Russia scored one goal in two preseason games, but had injured his lower leg during the preseason.

While this is a blow for fantasy owners who drafted Filatov, spending time in the AHL is the best thing for such a player like Filatov, considering the fact that he’s never played a single hockey game in the continent of North America.
