Montreal Alouettes 40 Edmonton Eskimos 4

After losing to the Calgary Stampeders 41 to 30 in the previous week, the Montreal Alouettes came back home to destroy the Edmonton Eskimos by a score of 40 to 4. Montreal’s Anthony Calvillo completed 31 of 38 passes for 414 yards and two touchdowns to Jamel Richardson and Kerry Watkins. As for Eskimos QB Ricky Ray, he went 14-for-17 for 156 yards. Backup QB Jason Maas also played in this game for Edmonton, going 8-for-12 or 110 yards.

With this win, Montreal improved their record to 8-4, still good for first place in the East Division. Edmonton, however, fell to 7-5. which puts them tied with the B.C. Lions for third in the West Division.

The Alouettes had the ball six times in the first half and scored on all six possessions: three field goals, three touchdowns. At halftime, Montreal led 30 to 4 and never looked back. Montreal’s Damon Duval converted on 4-of-4 field goals from inside the 25-yard line while Eskimo kicker Noel Prefontaine scored the only points for his team: Prefontaine scored 3 points on a 24-yard field goal, and he also punted the ball into the Alouettes’ goal area for a single.
