Details on Yankee Stadium Finale
With only one day left in the history of the Cathedral, I can give a few updates as to how tomorrow will go down. People attending the game will be able to enter the Stadium at 1 P.M. EST, but only through their respective gates. Bleacher tickets will enter through Gates 2, 4, and 6. ALL guests will be able to enter through Monument Park for the final time, and then something magical will happen. Everyone who does this from 1 P.M.-4 P.M. (Monument Park will remain open until 6:45 P.M.) will be able to walk from Monument Park onto the warning track, past home plate, and then back to their seats. At approximately 7:10 P.M., a pre-game ceremony will be held with dozens of Yankee legends (including Bernie Williams’ return). George Steinbrenner and Bob Sheppard will not be present. It is being reported that a “Never before seen historic artifact from the Stadium” will be displayed. During every 3rd inning, the bases will be replaced an be put up eventually for auction. Coverage will begin on ESPN at 1 PM as well. On November 9, a final ceremony and concert will be held at the Stadium as the official farewell.
As for the game, I can assure you that if Derek Jeter is healthy, Joe Girardi will play both him and A-Rod the whole game. Hideki Matsui will be the Designated Hitter, and regardless of the score Closer Mariano Rivera will finish the game. Be sure to watch history unfold tomorrow.
