BYU 59 UCLA 0

After having played one of the best games this season, the UCLA Bruins suffered their worst loss in almost 80 years, falling to the BYU Cougars 59 to 0. The last time UCLA lost by more than 59 points: 1929 when USC defeated UCLA 76 to 0. Cougars QB Max Hall completed 27 of 35 passes for 272 yards and seven touchdowns en route to the big victory for BYU. Brendan Gaskins also took a few snaps for BYU, going 4-for-5 for 66 yards.

The seven touchdown passes for Max Hall tied a school record as he helped BYU improve their record to 3-0 for the first time in seven seasons. Before the game, the school record for most touchdown passes in a game were shared by Marc Wilson and Jim McMahon. It was BYU’s most lopsided victory since the 65-0 victory over New Mexico in 1988.

Hall completed six touchdown passes in the first half alone, giving his team a comfortable 42-0 lead going into halftime.

UCLA QB Kevin Craft completed 23 of 39 passes for 226 yards, but threw one pass to the BYU defense.
