Michael Phelps has made Olympic history by winning his 8th Gold Medal in the 4×100m medley relay! In a close race, Phelps and his teammates prevailed, thus leading to Phelps’ 8th Gold Medal. The 4 swimmers were led by Peirsol, then Hansen, Phelps, and Lezak doing freestyle.
His relay team finished at 3:29.34 while second place, Australia, had a time of 3:30.04. He broke Mark Spitz’s previous record of 7 gold medals in a single Olympic games. He now holds the all time record of 8 gold medals in a single Olympic games. In addition, his relay team also won the world record.
