Being Paid Not To Play?

The Brett Favre saga continues as Favre is now mulling an offer, to stay retired.

The Packers have offered Favre $20 million paid over 10 years for the recently retired quarterback to stay retired. Favre does have time to think this over as his reinstatement papers will not be approved by Roger Goodell until both sides figure something out.

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy officially stated that Aaron Rodgers would be his starting quarterback this year, but would be more than happy to have Favre as a backup.

This offer was made to Favre since he will probably not take the backup and they do not want to release him in fear of Favre signing with a division rival. This leaves the possibilities of a trade or Favre staying retired since he has not officially been reinstated yet.

And if you read the Mats Sundin Soap Opera I said that situation was worse than Brett Favre. I take that back. This situation has gone insane. It is preposterous for a play to be paid just to stay at that state. Must be agonizing to be a Packers fan right during this crisis.
